Haiku My Heart: God’s Subway

SubwayPanoGod’s Subway by Miles Morgan (mm767cap) Used by kind permission

It's a place called "The Subway", in Zion National Park, Utah.  About a 5 mile hike up a branch of the virgin river, you come to this spot which is an old lava tube.  During the afternoon hours, the sun will reflect off the red walls of the canyon and shine up the tube, looking like an oncoming subway.. hence the name! ~Miles Morgan (Photographer)

  8. Hi Noelle,

Finally! I'm back. I've been mainly absent for two weeks. First Oregon, then Arizona. Even though I was back Monday night, it's taken me this long to decompress and do catch up. Who said retirement wasn't busy?

I love this picture. Love the haiku even more as it takes in all the elements of the photograph. I hope to get back into the haiku my heart swing of things real soon.

    Hugs,
    Annie

  12. Wow! Every color in the spectrum! Stunning photo! And I LOVE the haiku! The underground and the journey there have been such interesting metaphors throughout the ages: I was thinking of the goddess Persephone, Dostoyovsky, and then the latest Alice in Wonderland. The subway ride makes me think of the Beats: Ginsberg, Kerouac... Great post, Noelle! ♥

  15. Dearest Noelle,

This image and haiku is very atmospheric, I'm noticing the 'eye' too, I shot some pics yesterday and I'm sure that eye is there too, will post soon see what you think.

BTW I had the most beautiful dream last night, I was gazing at pale blue water rather like your header image, I couldn't be torn away!

    Loving you always Sue x
